Over two decades of competitive combat experience across professional boxing, Judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — coached one-on-one and in small groups. From first-time fundamentals to fight and competition prep.
Your Coach
Richie Gray is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt training under David Tobin, backed by over 20 years of competitive combat experience across professional boxing, Judo, and BJJ.
That background brings a disciplined, pressure-tested approach to training and competition. Centred predominantly on Gi-based Jiu-Jitsu, Richie focuses on efficiency, strategic decision-making, and psychological resilience under stress — coaching the mental game alongside the technical one.
With a strong interest in sport psychology, he prioritises confidence, composure, resilience, and above all, happiness as the attributes that drive performance — on the mats, and in the office.
He also runs a dedicated kids program, introducing younger students to discipline and fundamentals across boxing and BJJ.

Mission
Having worked on the tools as an engineer for 10 years, in the gym as a professional athlete, and most recently in the office as a corporate manager for the last 8, Richie has seen — from every angle — how hard, and how important, it is to keep up with your physical and mental health.
My mission is to give people the opportunity to learn a life skill that improves physical and mental wellbeing — and translates directly into the corporate world, building the confidence and resilience to perform under pressure.
Disciplines
Boxing
Stance, footwork, guard, and combinations, taught from a professional boxing career at the core of Richie's 20+ years in competitive combat. Pad work, defensive drills, and fight-strategy sessions for competitors.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Positional control, submissions, and escapes, taught from purple-belt experience. Suited to complete beginners through to those training for competition.
Judo
Grips, off-balancing, and throwing technique from brown-belt training. Builds the balance and control that carries over into boxing footwork and BJJ scrambles.

FAQs
Do I need any experience to start?
No. Sessions are built around where you're starting from — complete beginners are just as welcome as fighters prepping for competition. The first session includes a free technique assessment so Richie can tailor things from there.
Which discipline should I start with?
Whichever interests you most, or a mix. Boxing, BJJ, and Judo are taught as one connected skill set, so it's common to start in one and pick up elements of the others as you go.
Where do sessions actually take place?
Richie coaches independently rather than out of one fixed gym. Sessions are arranged at partner gyms and venues around Essex and London (subject to location), or at your own facility where suitable — see "Where We Train" above. Video analysis is also available remotely, wherever you're based.
How much does coaching cost?
Pricing depends on session type — private, semi-private, or group. Message directly for current rates and to find a format that fits.
Do you coach kids?
Yes. Richie runs a dedicated youth program introducing kids to discipline and fundamentals across boxing and BJJ. Get in touch for age ranges and availability.
Can I train for a specific fight or competition?
Yes — competition coaching is available for both boxing bouts and BJJ competitions, built around your timeline and goals.
Do you offer sessions for companies or teams?
Richie is currently building out corporate coaching for teams and companies in London — boxing-based sessions built around resilience and confidence under pressure. Get in touch to discuss options.
Can I get feedback without training in person?
Yes — send over footage of your sparring, rolling, or competition and Richie will send back a breakdown with specific tips. Useful if you're not London-based or just want a second pair of eyes on your game.
